Detailed Narrative Description of Project:

 

Preparation of resource map of Sullah Upazila of Sunamgonj District.  The map includes all the structures and plotwise resources of the project area. The ultimate goal of the project is to identify the plot-wise information.

Detailed Description of Actual Services Provided by the Company:

Local Government Engineering Department launched CBRMP Project to enlighten the process applied in first phase. Maximum participation of the stakeholders should be assured and this can be the first task. Definition of present use of existing water resources is necessary. Vast participation can extract a fruitful proposal from the stakeholders. At next relevant data & documents i.e. maps reports are collected to brief the PRA team. Most important to conduct preliminary social investigation & inventory of Khas Lands, water resources & facilitate self-analysis by the target people i.e. stakeholders. Overall conclusions come out with the PRA findings. Continuos supervision & monitoring for PRA activity is necessary to determine the correct & reliable information. Regular review meeting & proper action against poor performance are another measure for the quality information.

 

Services:

-          Prepare an inventory of different water bodies like Haor, Perennial Beel, Seasonal Beel, Khal, River, Roads Culvert etc.

-          Locate the water bodies through GPS Survey.

-          prepare and produce resource maps of haor areas in original mouza maps (CS map) and in updatable digital form (GIS Coverage) showing the resource (beels, khas land, ponds/khals), settlements, croplands, wetlands, swamp tree forest, reed lands, fallow lands, threshing areas, grazing areas, seed bed areas, sources of water, submergible dikes, degraded area, access arrangements in different water bodies and other natural resources;

-          conduct PRA for community attitude towards the present usage/possessions/further development of water resources (Jalmahal), possibility of any social conflict;

-          identify the physical status: area/size. Siltation condition, average yearly fish production;

-          Identity lease status

-          Recommend/suggest for development (excavation/demarcation/plantation/habitat restoration/sanctuary/fisheries etc.)

-          Identifying the problems faced by the farmers in the community especially in agriculture, livestock and food processing sector.

-          Identification of Agricultural & livestock research ground in project area.

-          Where the technical performance or appropriateness of the potential technology is uncertain, help the UTT in planning a research programme to test the technology under field conditions.

-           Where technologist and development opportunities have already been proven under similar conditions in Bangladesh, help planning to dissemination programme to extend it to other villagers in the Upazilas.

-          Identification of indicators and develop of forms/questioner for base line survey that correlate with the objectives of the project.

-          Identification of indicators and develop of questioner/forms for PRA/PIS that correlate with the objectives of the project.

-          Conduct training of UTT for PRA/PIS/PAPD/Base line survey on the basis of pre-­prepared standard Manual including on the job training for their application & use.

-           Updating all the forms and documents on the basis of field feed back.

-          Draft document preparation highlighting the following things:

·          Seasonal diagram to show variation in production of crop, fishery, livestock, crop damage by pests, lack of processing and natural calamity etc., throughout the year (monthly or bimonthly)

·          Changing trend of natural calamity, types of economic activities, fishery/livestock/agricultural production, use of fertilizer/pesticide/irrigation, fertility of the land, facility to get loan, etc.

·         Pie chart showing land elevation, class based ownership of wealth, ratio of class-based borrower etc.

·          Social and resource mapping.

·          Matrix ranking.

·          Wealth ranking of the community

·          Transect of the selective village

·          Problem ranking and analysis
